Without Pier Gallery

Without Pier Gallery has established itself, after 15 years of trading in the City of Bayside, as one of Melbourne's leading galleries promoting and marketing some of Australia's finest affordable, established and emerging artists.

Established by Terry Earle, a former Bank Executive with a passion for Australian art, Without Pier seeks to de-mystify and educate customers in the joy of owning and appreciating original art works by Australian based artists.

The business is unequivocally a commercial gallery and all works are for sale. The gallery seeks to understand its clients and match their needs to new art works.

Terry is passionate about Indigenous Art, significantly influenced by his childhood experiences on a Government Aboriginal Reserve in South Australia where his father was in chanrge of agriculture. This gave him an early insight into the challenges faced by Indigenous people and has shaped his commitment to ethical trading in Indigenous art. Importantly he sees that he has a role to play in educating non Indigenous Australians about this rich and diverse culture through art. The gallery now specialises in Western and Eastern Desert Art with at least one major exhibition annually. He is also encouraging urban indigenous artists and is promoting new works by these artists to his clients.

Without Pier seeks new ways to market Australian art and were fortunate to begin a partnership with Miele Australia and New Zealand, which over the last five years has successfully provided both parties with wonderful galleries in Australia and New Zealand, combining art and products in a sensational, lifestyle environment.

The Miele Gallery concept has been specially designed to showcase artwork, from local artists to capture the essence of each of the individual Gallery locations. The artwork encompasses glassware, ceramics, wood, canvas and metalwork. Each piece is carefully chosen to work alongside the pallet of colours which is then interwoven to create an overall theme to further reflect the individual regions. This mutual partnership is a model that is continuously being refined and enhanced, to ensure the artwork and products work in harmony and enhance the ambience. Without Pier coordinates and supplies both Indigenous and Australian contemporary art works for the Miele Gallery showrooms. In New Zealand, local artists are promoted through a partnership with Whitespace Contemporary Art Gallery in Auckland.

Original art works are on display and are available for sale at these showrooms. Promotional events and exhibitions are created to agreed themes and promoted to Miele clients, customers and staff. The result is that the outstanding International Brand of Miele links with Australian Art through Without Pier Galleries, linking outstanding quality and innovation in both areas.

Without Pier is established in the beautiful, light and airy premises in Melbourne's suburb of Cheltenham and has a second smaller gallery in Hampton, both in the City of Bayside. Terry's somewhat unconventional approach to marketing has enabled many first time art buyers to become proud new owners of contemporary paintings, sculpture and glass by Australian artists having been introduced to the gallery through many avenues including Miele Galleries. This is matched by unsurpassed customer service.
